Universal Carbine Serial Numbers
среда 15 апреля
May 07, 2020 I am a new member and not sure just how this works. I just purchased a Universal M1.30 Carbine, S/N 89691 which appears in mint condition. I believe it is one of the first generation carbines made by Universal and would like to try to confirm that it is. Any suggestons? My military service was USAF 1952-1973 and I have long wanted an M1 for shooting and boar hunting.

I don't know where else to ask this question that would have nearly so many carbine knowledgdable people so here goes:
A long time friend has died and left a couple of firearms that his wife wants to dispose of. Now, I have known this man well for 35 years and never knew he owned any firearms so shooting was not a priority with him. I want to help this nice lady set a fair price and assit her in the sale as she is now a tad bit over 85 years old and not interested in going to a gun shop.
One of the guns is a Universal 30 Carbine. I have held them in the past but never shot one. The only comments I have ever heard about them revolved around them being junk and they would not function reliably. Of course the people talking had never shot or owned one either but they were repeating the 'wisdom' of the gun club. Mostly rumors and speculation presented as fact. Certainly not the kind of information that can be trusted to be fact.
Have any of you actually owned and operated a Universal Carbine? Are they as bad a the gun club pundits say or is that all BS from self proclaimed 'experts'?
Thanks
